- Siapkan panci sedang besar, isi dengan santan kelapa, garam, halus, daun jeruk, serai, air kunyit (dari campuran remasan daun jeruk, batang serai yang dimemarkan serta parutan kunyit dan 100 ml air yang diperas dan disaring) dan daun salam. Aduk-aduk sampai merata kemudian masukkan beras yang telah dicuci bersih ke dalamnya. Rebus hingga mendidih dengan adakalanya diaduk rata. Angkat sesudah santan sedikit mengering.
- Setelah selesai direbus, selanjutnya ke tahap pematangan nasi dengan metode dikukus sampai 35 menit lamanya atau sampai matang sempurna. Kemudian angkat dan pindahkan nasi ke wadah bakul sambil sekali-sekali di bolak balik supaya pulen dan tunggu hingga asapnya menghilang.
- Berikutnya, tuangkan nasi ke dalam wadah kerucut atau kukusan yang telah disiram dengan air panas sebelumnya. kemudian pindahkan nasi ke dalamnya hingga padat dan membentuk kerucut lalu angkat kukusan.
- Lengkapi sajian nasi tumpeng dengan ayam goreng, ikan goreng, lalapan, sayuran juga lauk pauk lainnya dan tentunya saus pedas goreng pedas supaya lebih meriah.
